Great reproduction of the iconic Model 24 "Potato Masher" stick grenades used by German troops in WWII. The size, color and markings are correctly re-created. The grenade even has the pull cord and ceramic ball and disassembles exactly like the originals. The screw cap will actually interchange with original M24's- the head will not.

Authenticity Notes:

1. The only detriment is the handles- they are too nicely finished. Originals were just raw, unfinished wood for reasons that should be blatantly obvious. I tried to communicate this to the manufacturer but ultimately decided that Living History would likely prefer "pretty" handles. If you want the authentic look, just sand it with 50-80 grit sandpaper.

2. The reproduction is a copy of an early production grenade, which used tiny screws to hold the head base onto the stick. The original in the photo is a later, simplified model with simple indents instead of screws.

3. The shape of the handles varied between manufacturers- some are smoothly tapered, others are very squared off or stepped in appearance. Of millions and millions made there were quite a few differences in the details.

The German stamp says "Before use set fuse".
